Did you suffer from COVID 19 infection?

Do you know someone who never had COVID infection?

There are several reasons why some people may never get infected with COVID-19 despite being exposed to the virus.

  1. Some people may have a strong immune system that is able to fight off the virus before it can cause an infection.

HLA-B15:01 is a human leukocyte antigen (HLA) allele [Genetic] that has been found to be associated with a reduced risk of severe COVID-19 infection. HLA molecules play a critical role in the immune system, helping the body to identify and target foreign invaders, such as viruses. The HLA-B15:01 allele is found in some populations, and it has been suggested that individuals with this allele may have a genetic advantage in fighting off COVID-19. However, it is important to note that this is still a relatively new area of research and more studies are needed to confirm these findings and understand the mechanisms behind this association. Also, having a specific allele doesn’t guarantee that a person will never get infected, but it can increase the likelihood of mild symptoms or asymptomatic cases.

Individuals who carry two copies of HLA-B*15:01 are more than eight times more likely to remain asymptomatic than individuals carrying other genotypes.

Overall, one in five individuals (20%) who remained asymptomatic after infection carried HLA-B*15:01, compared to 9% among patients reporting symptoms.

2. Additionally, some people may have natural immunity to the virus, meaning they have been exposed to similar viruses in the past and their body has developed immunity to them.

3. Also, certain population groups such as young people tend to have milder symptoms or even asymptomatic cases and therefore they may not know they have been infected.

4. It’s also possible that some people have not been exposed to the virus yet.
